Boom Blox Rox!

I rented Boom Blox on friday…

Wow, this game is extremely good. It’s a puzzle game built around a powerful physics engine, in which you move blocks around to achieve an objective. There is a mode where you have to find a way to make special blocks hit the ground by tossing a ball at the structure. If you want to get a high score, you can only use a small amount of throws. Most of the time you have to find the weak spot of the structure or find a support block to knock out and cause the building to fall down.

Another section challenges you to play a type of jenga. At the top of a structure will be a penalty block. You most remove sections of the structure to get points, but if the penalty blocks falls you lose. It sounds easy but it’s quite tricky and can be somewhat difficult to get a perfect score.

The game shows a high level of polish and does some ingenious things with what appear, at first, to be simple game play mechanics.

I haven’t tried the multiplayer yet, but it looks very fun!

The wii needs more games like this. Fun, engaging, and addictive. I definitely recommend Boom Blox to any Wii owner, you wont be disappointed.
